Abstract:
Answers questions about the inclusion of rats, mice, and birds in coverage under the Animal Welfare Act. An amendment passed in 2002 amended the AWA to include rats, mice, and birds in its definition of animal under the law. This Factsheet answers questions about how this change will affect the regulated community. [Note: This is a historical document. As of December 2020, rats, mice, and birds are currently not covered under the AWA].
