Subject:
Canidae and Animal Welfare--Laws and legislation
Abstract:
The USDA used to consider the Australian Dingo and the New Guinea Singing Dog (Canis lupis dingo) as "dogs" under the Animal Welfare Act. However, they have changed their classification from "dogs" to "exotic animals" and will regulation them under Subpart F as "other animals" such as the coyote or African Wild Dog.
