- This report contains new findings on birth outcomes among Medicaid beneficiaries, based on linked 1987-88 WIC, Medicaid, and Vital Records data. Examines whether participation in WIC decreases the incidence of very low birthweight. The findings were that WIC participation was consistently associated with reductions in the prevalence of very low birthweight in most states.
