Abstract:
The Consumer Price Index compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics measures food price levels only in urban areas of the U.S. This report examines the cost and organizational factors that are required to establish a routine system for collection of comparable food price data in rural areas and identifies feasible alternatives.
